DirecTV....

I skimmed through 5 pages of archives and gave up. Everyone here seems to love their DirecTV.

We just got it installed two days ago, and haven't been able to go more than 30 minutes without the picture getting all scrammbled or losing signal completely. I know that with severe weather the signal can get lost, but this is just ridiculous. I live in the bay area in FL. We've had some clouds, but the guy said only really heavy black storm clouds would block the signal.

So what could the problem be? Location? Storms (even though it hasn't been really bad weather)? Maybe something happened during installation that we can call DirecTV about and have them fix it?

Sounds like you don't have a good lock on the sat. Check your signal strength.

Yup, you probably got a bad installer if it's not working on the 2nd day. I've had my dish knocked out of allignment a couple of times by some strong winds, but if it's aimed properly you should have an excellent signal.

Signal is bad sound like, the tech who put the system up is a tool. The guy who put ours up put up a big ass HD dish and didn't put any little feet on it 20 min after he left i heard A thunk on the roof, it fell over. Called direct tv he came back 3 days later and put it up right but didn't aim it right, and it started doing what you describe came back out 3 days later and aimed it right. I'm never going to bitch about Comcast again.

If the signal strength is fluctuating that much, and it's losing signal like that, you *definitely* had a problem with your dish mount. Call the installing contractor and tell them to send out somebody that can do the job properly.

Thank you for the replys. 🙂

The picture also seems to go out more at night.

We'll call them tomorrow and have them send someone out to fix it. I sure hope its just the dish pointed wrong cause from what i have seen, the picture is beautiful and the sound is great, but it ends up going out and gets really frustrating.

When my 5 lnb dish was installed I gave up on their installers after the 4th visit. I bought an Accutrak and went through the install procedure myself after re-attaching the dish to my house correctly and have not had a problem since.

My Dish network system has gone out for a short period of time over the past few days, and I haven't seen a cloud over the REAL bay area in weeks 🙂
