Directv install/setup

HardWired

When I was setup for DTV last year it was one HD receiver. I have since acquired a D12 for a small tv in my garage but I'm unsure how to add it to the setup.

Coming from the slimline dish is a single wire. It goes to a ground block on the outside of the house, then into the house, into and out of the power inserter, then into the HD receiver. From what I've been reading it seems that all I need to do is add a multiswitch to be able to feed off of the main to get a signal to the SD box in my garage. Is this correct? I've also read that it doesn't matter where the switch is located along the line. It can either be before or after the PI. Is that true as well? And last question...can a multiswitch be purchased locally...i.e. Bestbuy, Home Depot, Walmart, etc.?

Special mulit switches are required. I believe the one for DTV is my by Zinwel. Remember that power is going though your COAX to run the dish.

The dish itself supports 4 lines howerver, if you look where the cable hooks into the dish you will see 3 empty Coax hookups. Run a new line for your garage to the dish and your done.

The rule of thumb with DTV is home runs to the dishes, you only need a multi switch if you are over 4 boxes (3 if you have a dvr)..

Thanks for the replies. I currently have only a 1 HD receiver setup. And the dish doesn't have 4 outputs, it only has one. Look at the bottom pic in this link. Mine looks like the top one in the bottom pic...

I thought it would be just a quick connection and then down into the garage but when I pulled off the lnb there is only the single connection as shown in the pic. That wire goes from the sat. to a grounding block, to the power inserter, then to the receiver. No switch or splitter of any kind in the setup. So I can add a multiswitch anywhere along the line (i.e does it matter if its before or after the power inserter?) and split off to the garage?
