i just got new service and the rebate says valid to existing customers too, so im all over this.


seems like CC has the same deal and teh reviews are iffy im going to hold off for now

So is Directv only producing one model for HD units? I have a samsung SIR-TS360 and have seen taht it is discontinued.

What makes this so special? It looks like you can get the same cost "direct" from DirecTV. I'm not too familiar with them, since I have Time Warner and have been looking into Dish Network/SBC.

If you normally rent receivers from DirecTV for $5/mo, does this purchase it for you and waive the monthly receiver cost?

A note of caution. Direct TV will be switching its signal to MPEG4 format very soon. This receiver is MPEG2. I don't know what plans Direct TV has for upgrading pre-existing equipment so I would check with Direct TV before buying this receiver.

I wonder what they are going to do, becuase all those MPEG2 hd and hd/dvrs will be useless. It's going to be interesting.
