Direction of Air Flow over CPU Heatsink?

I have a SI-120 with a 120mm fan. I was wondering whether it mattered which way I mount the fan. With it pulling air up and over the hs, or pushing air down ontop of the heatsink. Also, which way is better for cooing surrounding components? Do temps change that much based on air flow direction?

You know, so much depends on how the fans are set-up and the case your using.

You could try it both ways if you like. The fan is not that hard to reinstall. Just don't keep removing and installing the anti-vibration silicone strips as the adhesive may give out.

I would have it blow down for cooling the ram,MOSFETS and NB. That's the way it was ment to be,

Dell uses a suction fan on it's Intel CPUs in some of it's PCs. But it is ducted to the rear exhaust port.

Thanks, thats the way I have in now, just wanted too make sure it wasn't wrong or anythink.

it really depends on your case, but most HSF blows air towards the cpu, overall, there isn't much difference by using either. My direction of airflow is blowing it to the back of the case to the exhaust fan (not up, not down, but the side). Yes, i have a cnps95000, really keeps my case temps down.
