Does anyone have any conflicts with this configuration under Win98SE -- Radeon, SB Live? I just did a clean install and installed CD drivers for the Radeon and the Live (LiveWare 3.0) as well as the DVD player for ATI from the retail disk. Now, the DVD player gives me an invalid page fault every time I start it. The first time I tried it, it said something about needing a sound card, but device manager shows everything without errors.

Any ideas? Thanks!

[edit]: Ok, I figured out that the problem occurs in one program, ddhelp.exe which is apparently a DirectX component (DirectDraw, I presume). I believe that this program was installed with the Radeon default drivers. It is messing up EVERYTHING, not simply DVD playback. Flash applets, DVD, and media player files all lockup the current program. I am updating everything I can from the Windows update, but I think I have the most current DirectX. Any ideas on how to fix it?

NicColt: Thanks for responding. I figured out the problem.

There is a specific Microsoft support page about this problem which relates to an unsupported video card under DirectX. DirectX 7.0a is installed, consisting of the full DirectX 7.0 and the 7.0a update (which doesn't affect DDraw).

I attemped to update the Radeon drivers, but it crashed during the installation because the program apparently makes a DirectX call during installation -- brilliant! Since the installation program unpacked the drivers into the ATI directory, I updated the drivers manually by going through Device Manager. Once the driver was updated (3054 or something like that), everything worked.

You have to love new hardware! :D

you might want to try the 3063 drivers btw. They are the best by far IMO

Are they on the website? I went there last week and didn't see those. I guess I'll check again -- thanks.
