i just started having this problem. normally i get a "BTVagent2 is not responding" which is fine and closes itself down by itself. since yesterday, i am getting the title message at the same time. Btv closes down and then i'm left with this. i tried to cancel and check the staus or at least try to read the whole message but it will just shut down whether i click "end now" or cancel. if i had selected restart, it restarts and if i had selected shutdown, it proceeds to shut down.

i tried googling it but i can't find anything on it. i'm on some trial software, btv is one of them, could that be it?

i have xp home sp2 and antiVir, spybot, adaware come up clean. i can't find this progam listed in running processes either. is there a way to print out the processes running in task manager?

Google is your friend: BTVAgent32.exe

Since you mentioned that you are running a trial version of BTV, it sounds to me like the program is either corrupt or not installed properly. Uninstall it, then download a new copy, and re-install it if you want to keep using it.

The DirectDBNotify WNDPROC error (which I believe you're actually referring to) seems to be related to Outlook Express. Is this running when you're trying to shutdown? Is there any Outlook Express message running (like "do you want to compact your inbox?") when shutting down?

ahh thank you sikkster. i did not see it when shutting down but the last couple times i opened outlook express it said "outlook will compact files". i always cancel it, maybe i'll just let it compact? i don't have that many saved messages, less than 100 probably.

btw, outlook is one of the first thing i open every boot so it's always open when i shut down.

why is it that oputlook keeps doing this? i told it to "fine, go ahead" and now next shut down i got the same error. on top of that, now every time i boot, when it hits the windows desk top i get window "ding" sound.
