DirectCD-like program but not packet-writing?

Does anyone know if there is a program that works like DirectCD but isn't packet-writing? I just found out that ALL of the cdrs i burned using DirectCD will not play properly in any home unit dvd player! It seems that packet writing (which DirectCD is) will have numerous gaps/pauses in a song when you try to play it. I thought there was something wrong with the dvd player. Anyway, i'm looking for a program that you can drag and drop any data files (mp3, jpegs, etc) and it leaves the cd open so you can add more AND just work like another hard drive like DirectCD. Is there such a program? I tried Nero and a few others for data, but they don't seem to work that way. thanks for the help!
