my sister-in-law as a new Dell computer, Windows
ME,that has a Dell Gefore2MX (32mb) video card. they
have been having problems with the computer when
playing games. so I started by checking the hardware
to make sure that everthing was installed, it was. so
I then moved on to DirectX. they had Directx8 installed
(know this using the Directx Diagnostic tool), but
their DirecDraw Acceleration was Disabled, Direct3d
Acceleration was Disabled, and AGP Texture
Acceleration was Disabled. I did not think that was
ok, so to get them enabled I used the 'test' buttons
to the right of the options. Test DirectDraw worked, and
I was able to enable it. Test Direct3d failed, and the
enable button has since been grayed out (does not
function). the AGP texture acceleration enable button
is grayed out, and its test button is grayed out. Ok,
so I figured that the video drivers were not working
(too old for Directx8). so I downloaded the latest
Nvidia drivers, installed them, they work good. I go
back into the Directx Diag tool, and try the 'test
direct3d'.. it passes. great, but the enable button is
still grayed out, cant be set, why??
I downloaded Directx8a, and installed that. but itdoes the same as above..
any one have any suggestions on how to get the
Direct3d Acceleation and AGP texture AccelerationEnabled????
