my sister-in-law as a new Dell computer, Windows ME,that has a Dell Gefore2MX (32mb) video card. they have been having problems with the computer when playing games. so I started by checking the hardware to make sure that everthing was installed, it was. so I started with DirectX, they had Directx8 installed (know this using the Directx Diagnostic tool), but there DirecDraw Acceleration was Disabled, Direct3d Acceleration was Disabled, and AGP Texture Acceleration was Disabled. I did not think that was ok, so to get them enabled I used the 'test' buttons to the right of the options. Test DirectDraw work, and I was able to enable it. Test Direct3d failed, and the enable button have since been grayed out (do not function). the AGP texture acceleration enable button is grayed out, and its test button are grayed out. Ok, so I figured that the video drivers were not working (too old for Directx8). so I downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers, installed them, they work good. I go back into the Directx Diag tool, and try the 'test direct3d'.. it passes. great, but the enable button is still grayed out, cant be set, why??
I downloaded Directx8a, and installed that. but it does the same as above..
any one have any suggestions on how to get the Direct3d Acceleation and AGP texture Acceleration Enabled????

yes, it is sharing with the .. I think the sound card.. not sure what, but it is.
I have my own machines, and one has this video card, made my Asus, and it shares an IRQ with
other devices, and very thing works fine.. and even if it did not, I have never been able
to move that device to another IRQ.

that could well be the source of your problem! is the videocard an AGP one? if yes make sure that there isn't a pci card in slot 1.
could you post the pc's irq list?

do you have win2k onthat pc??

no, it only has WinME... It is my Sister in-law computer.. so I have to go over there again to check the details again. I have my own computers, and both have Gefore2 cards, and both share their IRQ (11) with other devices.. I fact, I cant even change what IRQ get assigned to what device. so, other then making sure that PCI slot 1 is not used (assuming a AGP video card), what
else could I do? so, you want what device is on what IRQ?
any thing else?

posting the full irq list would be helpful! :)
