Direct X Problems

I somehow downloaded a corrupted version of Direct X. All of my games now say that they need direct x 9 at least to run the game. Well i downloaded the offical direct x 9 and its says that i already have dx9. I would somehow like to uninstall direct x and reinstall it. How would i go about doing this? thanks

You should be able to install it over your current copy without any problems. Or find a recent game you're playing... many come bundled with DX9 as well.

I ran another installer from a game I own. It said installation successful. Now it didnt ask me too but I restarted my computer anyway. Afterwards, I still got the same error:

Did you try reinstalling your GPU drivers?

And is hardware acceleration turned off? What's your card?

Card: Geforce 6800 GT 256mb

How do I go about checking Hrd. Wre. Acc? Ive done it many times but havent in the past few years lol.

I'll try installing some new gfx drivers.

Go into Display Properties > Troubleshoot... make sure the arrow is to the far RIGHT (on FULL).

Alright:

1. It was already on full.
2. I downloaded and installed the newest drivers for my VC
3. I ran 4 Virus checkers (Spyware Doctor/Spybot S&D/Hijack This/Ad-Aware) - Nothing
4. Again tried to re-install dx 9 drivers.. nothing

Try installing the patch: ftp://ftp.ea.com/pub/eapacific/lotr/lotrbfme2/

Also, i don't remember, but does this game use Starforce? If it does, you may want to try a no-cd crack and remove starforce.

I did a system restore to yesterday when it worked. I hadnt installed anything since then and i guess that fixed it right up. Thanks for the help Looney
