Direct X now or later???

Is it recommended to load DirectX early on in the Driver loading stage of the computer buildup, or does it even matter? I just figured since DirectX seems like a fairly "low level" driver that it would be best to load it before the hardware drivers for video, sound etc... Am I thinking right here or am I just blowing smoke?

I'm building my first system (below) and I want to do the "best job" I can making the machine run as efficiently as possible... I'd like to get my network connection going first so I can d'load DX tonight as I don't have a CD burner or other storage medium to hold the DX file...

Okay to load after all other drivers tonight or wait till tomorrow with access to CD Burner at work... Is it worth the wait?

It's a matter of opinion, but I personally tend to generally prefer loading all hardware drivers prior to updating DirectX.

Don't think it really matters but I install DirectX after I've loaded all my drivers.

If I ever update one of my drivers, I also then reinstall DirectX.

I install dx early on just before the videodrivers!

Sacrilege! 🙂

I just did a search on Microsoft site and nothing is mentioned about when to install DirectX. I really don't think it matters - unless someone knows better...

It really doesn't matter as long as the first thing you install after a clean install is your chipset drivers. After that the order isn't really important.
