direct x 9 & 10 cards in crossfire?

If you mean having a DX9 card and a DX10 card crossfired... well the only way that would work is if the DX10 card would be forced to render in DX9.
 
I very very much doubt it. On the ATI side isn't R600 getting rid of the dongle. So how would the cards communicate?
 
Crossfire only works within the generation. I think you might be able to have an X1300 and an X1900 paired up in crossfire, but not an X800 and an X1900.

For SLI, I'm pretty sure you can only do it with the exact same type of card (2x 6600GT, 2x 7900GTX, etc).
