-DirectX10 is barely going to be adopted by games this year... as of yet nothing but DX10 tech demoes exist although some current games will be patched to DX10. There is no credible news on a new version of DX and likely it will be a while.
-No, the 8800GTX wouldn't support any new features a DX10.1 / DX11 would include.
R600 supposedly will support the DX10.1 features, as always we don't know anything for sure under NDA still.
That is always a benefit with being a little late on the curve, having some additional incremental features.
I won't be surprised in DX10.1 coming about fairly soon because DX10 is so brand new and it is only 'now' getting trial by fire, it will need some tweaking. .1's are not large revisions, 9.0 was the only one not to have one in recent years.
