I am getting direct tv installed in a few days. I am purchasing the hardware and paying for the service, all legal. I do have a good pc with a ATI radeon AIW and would like to use it as a vcr as I do with cable. ANyone know of software out there that will let me take the raw feed from the direct TV and descramble it and view/record on the PC? I don't want to have to spend another $100 on ANOTHER decoder for the stupid PC.

ANy help MUCH appreciated!

You couldn't do the descrambling/demodulating like you could with basic cable. No one in the US has made hardware to do this. It is analogous to the DVB cards in Europe. What you could do is run the video output into your computer and control the box via the RS232 (serial) port.

Can you give me more information on this point? What exactly would I need to do this (hardware/software)? How would I control the box via the computer? Thanks for any help!
