🙁

When taking the HD dive, you should have added up ALL the costs. 😛 Does your TV have a built in HD tuner? If not, you're going to need the TS160 anyhow, even to get OTA HD channels.

Huh? 😕 It needs as many cables as you have recievers.

Well i have that right now. But I was thinking on taking it back If I could get HDTV over my current DTV DISH.

What? Your TV has a built in tuner, or you have a set top box? If you have a set top box, the DTV STBs are the same price as the OTA STBs. Just buy a DTV STB (thay can be used for OTA) and wait until you have the money to change out the dish.

I have a set top samsung version i payed 360 for. Does best buy let you buy DTV reciever without signing up for DTV service?

Whoops, I don't know. Don't you already get DTV? You can use a HD STB on that dish, you just wont have access to the HD channels until you change out the dish.

These are questions you should have asked before hand.

Ok I have no clue what some of these people are talking about, but they are HDTV nubs.

Triple LNB Dish only requires one Coaxial cable from the dish to your receiver.

Samsung SIR-TS160 is the best receiver out there right now. It has the ability to display 480i/p and 1080i at the same time, no other unit does this. This is the unit i got the day before the superbowl...I love it. I did a lot of research. Be sure to get the latest unit and update to the 1.0.0.6 firmware. The box should automatically download the firmware upgrade. It has great OTA (Over the air) tuner built in also.

There is NO way around the 3 LNB dish if you want HDTV. Chalk it up in the name of Technology. You have to consider that a $120 dish will last you many years. But that $200 video card is outdated in 6 months. It's worth it in the long run.

To be perfectly honest, there are ways to get a Triple LNB dish from DTV for $14.99. Go read on some of the HomeTheater forums. I got my dish and 3 receivers installed, all wiring and everything, paid by direct tv, for $14.99. I had to comit to 1 year of Showtime (which i needed anyway for HDTV) and 1 year of total choice, which i already get. So it was a no brainer. You just have to know how to talk to them. They are getting big money out of you for signing up for those things, so dont feel bad about making them install a dish and give you one for free...i sure as hell know i didnt.
