Direct TV DVR: Is there a way to improve settings on this thing?

I had a 30gb Tivo for years, but wanted a 100+gb model now. I went to best buy, and discovered I could save over 100$ buying a Direct TV DVR. I bought it, and put my Tivo in my kitchen (for morning cooking/breakfast/bills, etc). The Tivo automatically rewinds when you fast forward and hit play. The Direct TV DVR doesn't. I was wondering if there was some hidden option somewhere to make it do that. I just don't see the practical reason NOT TO, because no one can tell the exact moment (when fast forwarding 1 minute per second) when the show will begin.

Also, when fast forwarding 2x the Direct TV DVR fast forwards 1 minute and then rewinds 1 minute.. unless I fast forward 3x+ it will actually fast forward. Not that that has anything to do with my question.. just thought I'd like to point that out.

That's just the way it is. My friend has the new HD DirecTV DVR and it took some adjusting.

I think he has a 30sec skip backwards but can't be sure.

I have the old Direct TV 35 hr Tivo unit that I upgarded to a 120 GB hard drive. If you search for Humas or Humax tivo upgrade there is a walk through on how to image your 35 gb Tivo drive to a larger one. The other option you can do is earch for Tivo upgrade kits. they have all the untilities and hard weare to upgrade your Tivo unit to a larger capicity.As for your Direct TV Non-Tivo unit those suck @ss.I have one and hate it.
