DIRECT TV: Anyway to turn off that annoying bar whenever you flip stations?

Press the CLEAR button.

You'll just have to hit 'clear' everytime you want to get rid of it. But, once you switch channels again, it's back! Anyways, use the guide, that's what they made it for.
