By the way for those with 8.0a what build is that? I want to be sure my build is the same as those with 8.0a.

what? If your build was the same as 8.0a then it would not be 8.1 right? And its not on microsoft.com/directx so its not officially out then, right? :confused::confused::confused:

First: No it isn't, look here .

Second:
If the build you installed (ie: 1380) is the same build as 8.0a (ie: 1380) then it would BE 8.0a.
(The build number for either is likely not 1380 that was simply for illustration)

moreover, isn't it the case that beta 9 is being tested?....are they entirely overstepping additional 8.x versions or no?

even so, if it isn't listed on MS's site, it isn't official....

and finally, u make it sound like it's a big deal...is it?

definitely not a big deal... but for most of us computer nuts, I think we usually get excited about new shiz like that because it actually gives us a reason to spend another 674 hours benchmarking and playing games on our system, so that we can avoid our nagging girlfriends and the harsh realities of life...

I meant to say DirX version....sorry about that...

I upgraded to 8.0a a week ago from 8.0 and it says in the Dir X diagnostic tool that I have version 8.0 (4.08.00.0400).


So I was simply asking if I got 8.0a or its still 8.0? how can I be sure?

DirectX is extremely important, as it interrelates to your video and sound card.

there was 4.08.01.0579/.0682/.0695 and XP RC (not final) had .0710

this final is LEAKED - not official
and it is the final .0881
its not on thorin's link

here has it on downloads page, but slow - seems to be capped at 12.0KBs

I also have a french site, but too slow - 5KB/s

and JMitchell-you are correct, he has 8.0 not 8.1 - way behind.
