This song was previously a UK only release on an EP in 1986 and didn't see an international release until 1992. It also turns out that according to Wikipedia the song had been recorded even earlier so that puts it at about 1984.
I was blown away when I heard it, I initially thought it was one of Dio's later songs because of the heavier guitar and the symphonic ensemble intro (synthesizers generally didn't sound that good back then).
I wonder why this song stayed buried like it did. It sounds just as good as any of Dio's classics IMO and it has been my new favorite song for a while now. And that solo..... OMG.
