Maybe this will convince my girlfriend that dinosaurs are the coolest fucking things ever and not just giant lizards she should be terrified of.
 
Considering birds evolved from the raptor dinosaur branch, this is not surprising. Anyway, if you want to learn more about this, there have been several documentaries about just this and other dino awesomeness on both the NatGeo and Sci channels.

IIRC, this all started about 10 years ago when feather outlines were found in that dino hotbed of China, and technology progressed to allow the extraction of chromatofores or whatever is responsible for feather color production.

It looks like dino's were very colorful after all.
