Dinner by the glow of the CRT

My office building is having some sort of power maintenance done tonight, so the main power has been cut off. Essential areas are running on generator but the battery power for lights in the halls and other areas is gone so it's pitch black in most places (too bad there's nobody to play some live-action RPGs with). The kitchen lights are out, but the sockets are still powered so I can at least nuke my dinner still. Somebody decided to bring in a couple of arcade cabinets a few weeks ago, only one of which works. In order to prepare my frozen dinner and read the package, I had to use the glow of the CRT on the OutRun arcade game (for some reason the light in the microwave doesn't turn on with the door open).

The glow of the CRT makes it tech-related. Duh. Besides, this is OT, it's already been determined that nothing in here has to have anything to do with tech, and can be as inane and irrelevant as one can imagine.

Hmmm...it occurs to me you may have meant it's merely commonplace. In either case, 😛
