DIMES 10k!

Yes... a milestone for me. 🙂

Though some people hage 30 million. 🙁

1) Other than that, how do I use the graph in DIMES? I only see my computer's name bouncing around on the screen.

2) How do I find an ASes? According to their paper, there are lots of ASes to be found.

3) My computer seems to be trying to ping random IP addresses, but it never gets a reply. I wouldn't care about that, except that it is not counted as a measurement. How can I turn off the ping function, so that the computer only will traceroute to IPs? Because I never get a problem when I traceroute, except whenever my computer sporadically disconnects from the internet. ( I use UDP measurements.)

I just checked mine for the first time in months... I have it running on three computers (IIRC) alongside SETI.

Congrats! 😀

1. & 3. What OS are you running? IF XP, check to see if the firewall is turned on. You may need to allow the dimes client through your firewall, as it sounds like it's not communicating properly with the ping function. You should have a growing number of nodes on the screen when you refresh, up until the screen gets too cluttered, then it automatically clears and starts over displaying nodes found. Try switching from UDP to the other way of measuring.

2. Nothing you can really do about finding ASes, as far as I know. That's just something the client runs into and reports.

3. Pings. Not sure you can turn the ping off, it's one of the major functions of the client.

I would suggest posting these questions on The DIMES Forums

(it's been awhile since I looked at the client, and it's not running on this PC)

Thanks for answers people.

Now, about the graph and the pings: I do use UDP protocol for measuring, and I let javaw.exe through my Zonealarm firewall when I first installed DIMES on my computer.

I also posted on DIMES forums, though it does not seem to be very active.

:cookie: about your stats keeleysam. 🙂

Thanks 😀

I just checked up on my DIMES crunchers, and I guess it wasn't setup to start when Windows does, so only one of them was running. Now I have three.

Congrats Stalin PoG on hitting 10k 🙂

1. About the graph ,click 'get info' & then one of the buttons at the bottom to get the desired info.

2.Client does that.

Don't know about 3 ,but I do know that ZA has a tendancy to block things even when you've allowed it  ,that's why I switched to Sygate.

I hadn't checked my Dimes stats in months either ,I'm close behind ya at 478k 😉
Though with your extra 2 rigs your gonna sail away 😛

I got ya on AS's though 😀

Good point about the Zonealarm thing, I would uninstall it but my computer seems locked onto it. It for some reason says that "You do not have sufficient priveliges to uninstall Zonealarm Firewall (something like that)". I am the sole administrator of the computer... (What do I need? A note from my mum?)

The graph still doesn't work. I clicked get info, and then Machine, and the computer now displays a blue box with my computer's name in it. That is all that displays...

Afraid I don't get that either
