dimension 8200

Hey guys... my aunt has a dimension 8200 that uses rambus memory..

she has 4 slots... 2 are being used and 2 have filler sticks... empty looking ramchips to fill in the slots i guess.
I bought another stick of 256mb and removed a filler stick... now i get beeps.. do i need to use these in pairs?
any way to get this to work?

thanks

aww i just looked on dell.com and the beeps mean

5-2-2-1 Mismatch or unsupported memory modules

wtf.. its the same thing.. rambus 800 right? arrrgghh

Rambus needs to used in matched pairs. If you go looking for more ram, you also want to be aware that Rambus was also ECC or non-ECC. Some boards don't allowing for mixing these styles.

Like Redbeard said, you have to use rambus in pairs, so you'll have to purchase one more 256mb stick to match that one.
