Hi,

I currently own a Dell Dimension 4700 desktop computer. I plan on buying PC-5300 (667MHz) memory for it, but I do not know if it supports it.

According to my owner's manual and dell's upgrade site, the max speed that it will run is at PC-3200 (533MHz), but according to crucial's memory configurator the dimension 4700 will work with the PC-5300 memory.

Does anybody have any experience with this?

The only other information that I have on this is that some people have tried running PC-5300 memory on their Dell Dimension 8400 and supposedly it won't post correctly even though the 8400 uses the 925X chipset motherboard.

Anyways, any help would be helpful. Thanks in advanced,
Howard

I helped a lady set up and purchase a 4700 about 1 1/2 months ago and it had DDR2 533 (pc 4300) installed. I doubt (but dont know for 100% sure) that DDR2 667 would work.
