Dim the backlight on WM2003SE phone?

I've got an SMT5600 cellphone by audiovox with WM2003SE. If I set the backlight to 30secs, it will be bright for 15 secs and then dim for the next 15 seconds, then turn off. I want to know how to get the phone to always be in dim or off mode. The backlight is very very bright and I am unable to adjust it, the "dim mode" which the phone goes into after about 15 seconds seems perfect and would definately help with battery life. I have PHM registry editor, I tried looking at the registry entries but seem at a loss as nothing indicates a time for the dim mode.
