Dim Sum is good!

I like to go yam cha =]

So this morning I volunteered at Glide Memorial Church (that's where Will Smith went in Pursuit of Happyness) and we made bagged lunches for the homeless. We made PB&J sandwiches and spreading them is tough. Using the spatula we were given we mostly slapped oodles of PB&J on. I ate sandwiches people just totally messed up on and it was filling.

My friends wanted to yam cha so I was like fine, let's go. This way I can just order a few dishes and not have to eat a whole meal. Well guess what? I pig out totally and instead of other people eating more than me, I end up being cleanup crew. I had:

- siu mai
- har gow (shimp dumplings)
- bean curd wrapped thingies
- sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves
- chicken feet (a whole dish because my whole table was afraid to eat it)
- pork spareribs
- beef meatballs-
- bbq pork (char siu) buns
- egg tart
- pan fried noodle

Had I not eaten those PB&J sandwiches I would've gotten a few extra things like: fried taro balls, bbq pork rice noodle.

I need to hit up the gym big time now.

it's good for a change from eggs/bagels/toast. God how do people eat the same breakfasts so often?

I HATE OHIO WAHHHHHHHH!!!

Hmmmm Ohio... is the chinatown there crappy? I know D.C. is

They bake everything at their house (home) and bring it to the bakery the next day.

When I asked the lady if she could make any more, an old guy laughed at me.

The Chinatown in Cleveland is pretty crappy. There are maybe five restaurants worth going to and about three really smelly Chinese grocery stores. But at least it's authentic Chinese food. I'd certainly settle for that over what I have now, which is your typical American Chinese takeout place.

sien jook geen is the bean curd wrapped stuff

Is that how you say it in Cantonese? Do you have the mandarin pronounciation for it? I think I've picked up enough canto to kinda order dim sum dishes, but I'm still afraid to bust it out cuz I might look stupid =P

whats the difference between dim sum and chinese food?

dim sum is breakfast at a chinese restaurant.

It is breakfast at Cantonese restaurants. Dim Sum is from the southern coast of china. I have friends from Northern China that never had Dim Sum until they came to the US.
