Dilemma

These are my options upgrading from an 8800 GTS 640

EVGA 8800GT 512( Dual Slot ) on sale for $99

Diamond HD 4850 $189

Visiontech HD 4870 on sale for $269

I know the GT is roughly 20% faster than my existing card in most games and I would really like to stay dual slot for heat purposes. So should I stick with the GT? Is it worth paying almost triple ( after taxes in Canada ) for a 4870?

Thanks for the help

Cant fit a 9800 GTX in a Antec Solo, plus they are still $200 here.

I'm looking at benchmarks and the 4850 and 9800 are not hugely faster than the 8800GT though. $99! is such a cheap price heh

Ah..well you might want to let us know about your monitor and resolution. In reality then you can get away with a 8800GT for now, but you will be getting the upgrade itch again in less that 6 months im sure. The GPU battle is heating up again.... If you think the 4850 will last you longer, just fork out the $$ now.

Sigh I know I am going to have to go the HD 4870 route for $269 to justify an upgrade. If I go the 8800GT I will just need to upgrade again in 6 months, I was just hoping to hear different.....

Sometime running around with your fingers in your ears going " lalalalala " does work! Well at my job it does ...guess not here :)
