Dilemma about keeping business local?

There is a really good cigar shop pretty close to me. They have a really nice lounge in the back and I?ve done a lot of networking through them? I usually spend $5-12 every time I go in for singles.

I usually buy a big box in May to celebrate the end of a semester, and this time I?m buying a box to celebrate my graduation, but for the first time ever the box I want (which is different every years) is $30 cheaper online.

If I buy the cigar box online, it will in no way affect my other buying habits from the local shop, but some part of me feels obligated to keep shopping with them because they've been so good to me over the years. WWYD?

Let 'em know you found it cheaper online and ask if they can sell it to you for a price that's between their price and the online price. If you're really as attached to the shop as you say you are, they'll cut you a break just because you're a good customer.

I know exactly how you feel. I'll start buying stuff online when the difference over the local shop gets to be more than 10% or so. I still feel kinda bad about it, but I only have so much money.

Ask if they will match, or at least come close. If I have a relationship with a local supplier/relailer/whatever I will buy from them until the difference is too large that the relationship is not worth the cost difference.
