im tempted, but has anyone heard of this brand

just like Mintek, Cyberhome, and Apex I'm sure the build quality is a bit suspect compared to name-brand electronics.

however, this is a $35 DVD player that plays CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, VCD, SVCD, JPEG, MP3, and raw MPEG1/2.

it's worth the risk, IMO

There's completely different versions of the same Digix player as well (different internal design, different chipsets - one using ESS video chipset, and one using Mediatek chipset integrated into the bottom of the loader). As are many of the other "made in china" dvd players. You may find two different brand/models to be exactly the same in internal design and functionality (i.e. same China OEM used).

Me too. I think they named it that way on purpose.

i have this DVD player...

It is AWESOME. Plays all my cheap media and everything. It is well built. ALOT better
than the apex's.

Only thing I don't like is the mp3 navigation screens when playing mp3's. Its not bad at
all though.. Well worth the $$.

You need a Kiss 450 DVD/DIVX player in that situation, however, it will be around the same price as perhaps 12 of these Digix DVD players :(

Gotta be a good deal when the majority of the add-on cables cost way more than the device itself!

Dammit...I resisted this deal for 3 days, but it keeps showing up on the screen...finally succumbed to the temptation of a $35 DVD player...hope it's as good as all the reviews say.

Damn - now $39.99. Not exactly a deal-breaker but that's what you get for procrastinating!

just got my dvd player

I got an ESS chipset with the YE serial number as described here

It played all the DVD-R, VCD, and SVCDs I have tried thus far.
