odd mix of hardware balancing. the ryzen cpu seems handicapped by the power/thermals while the vega side does fine until it hits the cpu limit. the double removable drive bays is a nice feature.

the fact that it is just running windows was a surprise, i thought it was supposed to come with a custom console OS.

makes for an odd min spec pc for console devs to target.

I remember it was supposed to have both Windows and custom OS options. It's a lot more useful with Windows.

Looks like the CPU is limited to 3.0GHz.

What's really interesting for me was how gddr5 latency affecting how program behave.

And on another related note, can this be overclocked?

a shame that he didn't run some more CPU/ram benchmarks

but I think ram is the biggest problem, you only have 8GB for CPU+GPU and GDDR5 seems like a waste for the CPU, and a GPU of this level should normally have 4GB at this point,
also that idle power usage was really high for a small PC, perhaps also related to the GDDR5, if it's running at a fixed rate...

still, very interesting machine.

Ok, I need to clarify...
There will be 2 Subor Z+ products with the Ryzen CPU.
One of them is with the console OS which is China Exclusive and also is cheaper than the expected prices.

However seems that the 2nd one which is the PC one is the products it might go outside China. And it might have the chance to do it.
Since is unique that device and performs better than some PCs, it might stand a chance to the bigger opponents.

It's really meant to be a console. The "pc version" is because China had banned game consoles for the longest time, so they wanted to hedge their bets as to whether there would be any acceptance.

I doubt they sell it outside of China. I wonder if the Windows 10 license is legit.

Actually it is! Look at cheap Asus laptops, they have legit licences. But you can't transfer it.
I see the PC version being sold outside China, similar fashion like Huawei. The problem is the price. It would cost pretty much to say thay is a PC and not a console.

That PC seems to be ready to play some MMOs without problems. Even more, is pretty compact that thing that could attract some people.

I think in the video they say it is Windows 10 IOT Enterprise. I assume that's cheaper to license than regular Windows 10, but it's only licensed to manufacturers so it's hard to know for sure.
