I have the digitaldoc 5, but I noticed that the only connections that are given is the 3 pin male fan header for each one of the 8 fans that it can connect to. I have several of those, but I need a way to convert some of my pass-thorugh 4 pin molexes to the 3 pin female setup. Is that possible? Also, I was wondering if someone could explain the schematics of each wire that goes through the molex and fan header and also what they do.
I heard the 3 pin has one +12 volt connection, one ground, and one rpm reader. That's fine and dandy, but the pass through molex is setup in such a way that there's 2 wires coming out of the fan (one +12 volt and one ground) and then it conencts to the male 4 pin molex (where the +12 splices into the yellow cable on the right side and the gorund goes into the black wire right next to it [third from the left]).
So basically I was wondering what I needed to do in order to get the the 2 wires coming out of the fan into a 3 wire female configuration so I can plug it into the digidoc's fan header connection.
I also have one 120mm fan by Mitsubishi that has a VDC connector. Its a 4 pin connector that resembles the same kind that goes into the pentium 4 mobos. I thought I could connect it right up, but even that I can't test, because both conns are female. Anywho, this one too only has 2 wires coming out from it (+12 volt red wire and the black ground wire). Both wires go to the look-alike p4 mobo conn and also string off in a series to another connector that looks similar, but has 2 pins instead of a four. This fan I also need to also convert it to 3 pin female
Thank you for your time and I hope I didn't trouble anybody with this question. It's that I plan to go on a casemodding quest next week and need some things finalized; with this being a minor setback that I ran into (or so I hope).
