I have Altec Lansing ACS48 speakers running with my IWill XP333 onboard sound. They sound great, but the XP333 came with a digital out card too. Would i really notice a difference running digital speakers? If so, what is a good brand?

any info would be appreciated

thanks

Unless you are a audiophile that uses their computer for their work,
I don't think that you will be able to tell the difference. For gaming, analog works
perfectly well, even at high decibels and pitch. Anyway, who is going to be listening
to movies that have regular high C notes in them.
I use the Creative Labs 4.1 system and am very happy with them. The digital
version (5.1 though, not 4.1) is a lot more expensive, so save your money.

I have old Cambridge FPS 2000 speakers and an audigy card. The card and speakers have a digital DIN. So I can quickly go back and forth between digital play and analog. On this particular setup, anyway, the digital sounds worse to me. For one odd thing, it's far quieter with volume controls set the same. For another thing, even at comparable volume levels the digital sounds less bright.

YMMV.
