Digital Video Camera Images to CD

I am trying to convert some digital video camera footage to a cd and I have never messed with this kind of stuff before. Does anybody have any suggestions on what I need to do? Also, what program would be best to use to run the video file? I also need to "freeze-frame" a part of the video and print it out for the cover of the cd. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks for you help.

First you have to import the video to the hard drive, usually using FireWire.

Then export it as an .avi file using the codec of your choice. Choose one that's installed by default on all Windows machines. (No, I don't know which ones that would be, unfortunately.)
