any of you guys into digital video? I recently bought a Canon GL1, beachtek XLR adapter, manfrotto tripod/head, audio technica at835b shotgun mic, canon wide angle lens, boom mic pole, dolly for the tripod.

think i'll need anything else? I am making a movie using all this stuff then transferring the video to the computer with Premier. I currently do sound editing in Cool Edit Pro, but hear that Pro Tools is a better program to work with, anyone here used pro tools? Premier has worked pretty well so far, it seems to like the AVIs that get captured from my GL1 much better than the mpg files I use to work with from transferring analog video to the computer.

any advice, comments?

Thanks,

Tim

As I've said in many threads before, if you're going to spend the money on equipment, don't be cheap on the software. If you're that serious about the work you're doing, then get Avid Xpress DV 3.0.

(I hate Premiere)

As for it handling the AVIs better, it's because chances are when you were going from analog to mpg, the computer was doing the compression. With the DV camcorder, the data is already compressed so the computer doesn't have to work so much when capturing.

Anyway, as for your camera setup, the only thing I can think of that you're missing is lighting. :)

My main gripe with the software is it's interface. The way it interacts with the timeline is horrible.
