My buddy in Boston wants to ditch his current Comcast HD Package w/ Bruins package added on. Will he be able to get the Bruins's games by OTA signal in HD using a HD antenna?

Depends on if the game is being shown on a channel that is broadcasting the game in HD OTA.

He says it shows on NESN and it doesn't look like they broadcast OTA. Only with Comcast. :(

This is what I've read on AVS Forum's site.

Yeah, except for NFL and MLB on the weekends, all other sports are pretty much carried by these regional carriers. OTA is usually not possible. Sometimes they'll show some games on the local OTA channels.

For instance, Wizards games are usually show on CSN in VA but sometimes the local WB affiliate will show some games. The local MyNetworkTV channel will show Nationals games - usually carried on MASN.

What kinda crap is that? It sounds like it's not even regular cable, you need a package to get it.

Why would you think a cable channel would broadcast OTA?

I'm not from Boston so I know nothing about what channels are local or not.
