Digital sound with my onboard Realtek AC97

I have the realtek sound solution on my MSI K8t Neo and I cant get it to work with my digital boston acustic desktop speakers. With SB live I have to click a box that said digital output only in order to use the speakers, i cant find any such thing with the realtek software. Is it possible to use the speakers? If so what am I doing wrong?

Well, I just checked the Realtek drivers I am using on my nforce board, and the SPDIF control on playback is greyed out. Shows up fine for recording.

You might want to check and see if MSI or Via have alternate drivers. Nvidia makes them for my board, but I cannot get 5.1 surround with theirs.
