"Digital Signature Not Found"

I'm trying to install a legitimate copy of Norton on a client's laptop. She is running Windows 2000 with a boat load of viruses. I can't install norton because when it gets to this point, a "Digital Signature Not Found" window pops up and rolls back the installation. The files are on CD, so there is no way they have been tampered with!

which version of norton. may have to pull the drive and do a scan and remove the viruses before being able to install it

Strictly speaking, once a system is compromised, the only way to make sure it's clean is to wipe it completely and reinstall. Smart malware will prevent scanning programs from installing and running correctly. Smarter malware will prevent scanning programs from installing and running in subtle ways.

(Yes, you can put it in another machine and scan from that system. Just watch out that nothing gets executed from that drive.)
