digital satellite tv test... scam?

I got a message on my answering machine. It said someone is doing a pilot trial for digital tv and is willing to hook up the equipment and give us programming for free for a certain amount of time. It said something about us being the guinea pigs (not in those words). I'm in the West LA area, and I wonder if anyone else got this message too. I'm skeptical, but I will call them tomorrow about it (it's not a 1-800 or 1-900 number, just a local phone number). Does this sound like a scam? I figure it doesn't hurt to call though...
