Digital research burners?

<< Does anyone know who makes the Digital Research burners, specifically the 16x10x40 EIDE model? >>

Never heard of it. Not very many companies can actually make drives. Many of the generic unheard drives are OEM'ed. I imagine its made by either Lite-On or Sanyo. What kind of buffer under run technology does it use? SafeBurn is Lite-on(I think so...) and Burn-proof is Sanyo.

From examining the drivers on their website, it appears that the 16X cdrw is made by BTC.

I believe they are not one of the more reliable brands.

purchased a 40X about two years ago, $40.00 after $30.00 rebate. i never got the rebate called there 800 number and it only rang never got an answer. the drive was a BTC and it was dead in a little over a year.
