Digital out on Sound Blaster Audigy...

I just got a new Sound Blaster Audigy LS that I hope to use with what is becoming our media PC.

There is a digital out jack on the back (you know- that yellow one?) that seems to be used for surround sound. In my stereo, we have a dolby surround sound decoder. So, I followed these instructions:

(Instructions!)

And it came to this: "A simple 3.5 mm minijack - RCA adaptor cable will transfer this signal into the SPDIF-In of most Dolby Digital Receivers."

It seems to have a four pole type of plug, which I personally haven't seen before.

Questions: where can I get a 4-pole mini jack, and how would I plug this into my surround sound decoder?

Thanks.

You don't need that. Your reciever can't simultaneously read 3 sets of digital PCM data.

What you need is a simple mini-jack to RCA adapter cable. That will give you DD\DTS output, and 2 channel sound for everything else.

Seriously? I wouldn't put it through the digital out, right? It would just go out the normal green one...

Thanks for your help :)

No, it would still go in the digital out if you want to pass DD and DTS signals to your reciever. The green one is analog.

But when I use the digital out thing, I get static on my speakers and I have no overall sound from anything running.

Any suggestions?

Make sure you enable digital out on your soundcard config setting and you have that minijack plugged into coaxial digital jack on your Audigy.

Yeah... I've done that for sure. "Digital out only" was selected. You're SURE it has nothing to do with the cable? It's a basic 2 pin one- stereo, that turns into two RCA jacks- one red, one white... you know?

Did you try both the red and white connectors?
