digital out on SB Live 5.1, HELP! (UPDATE)

so i am trying to connect my digital out connection from my sb live 5.1 i have a coax cable with one side that has and female coax -> male RCA connecter that goes into my reciever the side that goes into my computer is a female coax -> male 1/8th inch. its not working, what am i doing wrong?

so now i am getting a stero signal from the spdif output port but it is not giving me a DD 5.1 signal so when i run test tone on the speakers it only plays right and left not the center or the rears. any ideas guys?

Thats what I did, works fine. Hmmm... Your receiver is set to receive via coax? (some have multiple input choices)

Have you tried going into Audio HQ or Speaker Preset Setup in the Programs list? Speaker Preset Setup should do it. Try that first.

ive tried that too triple jay, the speaker setup says 5.1 when i run the test all it says is front left and front right

With the SB live series you can ONLY get either PCM 2 channel audio from your spdif out or DD 5.1. To get PCM 2 channel audio, you only have to check the box in the mixer settings to enable digital output. To get DD 5.1, the only way to do this is to play a DVD or an AC3 encoded file either with a DVD player that outputs DD 5.1 to your digital out on the sound card.
