Digital Out on my LCD

With my Sony SDM-N80 monitor, the analog works fine. However, I wanted to see how well digital would work, so I bought a DVI-I to DVI-I dual-link cable (I think that should work with both the monitor and my Hercules 3d Prophet 2 GTS 64MB), however, when I switch to digital flat panel, not only will it not work, but when I restart, and it goes into windows, it will work, but the video is all screwed up. The image was grainy and the monitor would flick on and off. Anyone else had this problem or knows how to solve it?
