Digital or analog hookup for my new CD player?

I have decided to buy a dedicated CD player for my home theater. I am buying a Cambridge Audio 640C Version 2, by all accounts one of the best players under $1,000. It has dual Wolfson WM8740 digital-to-analog converters, really its main claim to fame. The player has both analog and digital outputs.

Am I right to assume that I want to use the analog outs to take advantage of the Cambridge's DACs, rather than using an optical or coax connection?

I know this is probably an absurdly obvious question, but it never hurts to ask, right?

Thanks in advance!

Hopefully you're receiver has a pure / direct / etc. mode to completely bypass internal digital circuitry, too.

yes, use analog outs. Although the 740C is better for just 1000$ :D

For under 500$, the 640C V2 def. takes the cake.

the denons have an excellent External Input mode. the high bandwidth analog inputs bypass almost all processing - if you set crossover frequencies, they will still be used afaik.

I'm getting a new 640C V2 for $300 (from an authorized dealer on eBay, using the Live.com promotion). Hard to resist at that price.

Yeah, that is quite a deal. I was going to get the 640C V1 several years ago, but my dealer offered the Rotel RCD1072 for 500$ and since it cosmetically matches with my Rotel 1070 separates, I couldn't resist :)
