If I reboot/turn off my computer, then the digital monitor keeps flashing for a while before "sync'ing" or becoming usable. It has gotten progressively worse to where now it has been going for at least 5 mins and no picture. What I mean by flashing is that the screen is black and every second or two the screen is visible for a split second. This can happen in BIOS as well as in Windows, so it is not a Windows issue. I've tried 2 diff. lcd monitors, one a Viewsonic and the other a Sceptre. On both monitor you can see the green power button flashing as well. I am using a DVI port and cable with both. Weird thing is that I can connect a 17" CRT to same port with DVI/VGA adapter and it works fine.
This morning I bought a new video card thinking it was the problem. Didn't fix it! Anybody heard of this?
Asus P5KC
Vista Home Prem. 64-bit
8 GB DDR2 RAM
Orig video card: EVGA 8800 GTS 320 MB from previous system
New video card: XFX Radeon 5770 - on sale at Fry's
UPDATE: I connected the Viewsonic to a Dell XPS notebook with a DVI output and it did the same thing. I then tried the other monitor and couldn't even get power. So, both monitors are bad it seems. Could a video card do that??
UPDATE2: I took the Radeon 5770 back and got an Acer H243H monitor. It is incredible! I would have never belived that two monitor would exhibit the same problem. Still makes me wonder the cause!
