Ahh. I misunderstood your question. I think you've got the real answer you're looking for already in OT, but I'll reiterate. My experience with digital recording and track division is quite similar to my experience with analogue recording. The tracks aren't automatically divided - only when there is sufficient blank space. It seems as though when using digital cables, the blank space need not be as long, but it still does have to be there. :(

I used record from my Discman to MD using Optical cable, tracks are splitted automatically WITHOUT the need for time between tracks. It can identify correct tracks of CDs that does NOT have any time between the tracks, eg trance mixes etc. Time between tracks is only for Analog Track splitting.

I am not 100% sure this MP3 program automatically sends tracking information, but i doubt it.

xtreme - what equipment were you using?

That would be very convenient for me. Currently with my Live and TOSLink, most tracks are caught, but not all, so it would seem that the track info isn't being sent. I am using Winamp to play the CDs in digital mode.

I am using a Panasonic SL-S450 Discman with a Sony MD Recorder then.
Tracks without ANY pauses are still divided perfectly :)

Now using a Sony MD HiFi to record.

But I dont think the Optical out from Sound cards actually send track informations along.

Yah, that was my guess in the first place. I can always be hopeful though , maybe one of these days I'll buy a discman that has an optical out.
