I just got a new Aureal 2 with digital out, and I plug a TOSlink cable into it leading to my Aiwa XRMD100u bookshelf MD/CD/tape/radio and set it to record hoping it would be able to auto track and do all that, BUT when I had to push unpause to start the recording and it didnt auto track when I played the songs useing the latest MusicMatch 6.0

please help

there are some noise in your computer.

go to volume control and play around with the settings.

-edit-
what I mean is, even when no song is playing whatsoever, the computer still generates a little amount of "hiss" that the recorder catches as sound. so lower the volume a little until this "hiss" is not detectable by the recorder, hopefully the overall sound output is still loud.

I have the same setup as you do BTW. Storm Platinum sound card with digital out, MD recorder.

but i thought optical out didnt depend on noise from your computer and just does all the marking automatically... and it doesnt start when sound starts comeing out, i have to manually start it

Yeah.. at first I thought optical would automatically do that, but it won't.

You need to turn on something called "synchro recording" or something. That's what it is called in my Sony. Look up your manual, basically it means start and stop recording when there is/isn't a sound signal present.

i think the home audio systems singal for a next track mark since i've copyed from a awia soundsystem before, don't know what model but it was old. this feature doesn't seem to be in sound card optical outputs though, i had one (hoontech) before too. btw, i have an sony mz-r90
