Can anyone point me to a good place to learn about digital image editing? I just got a Canon Powershot A20 and I want to edit the images (some come out awesome, while some need a bit of work). This is my first digital camera, so I could use some basic training. :) Increasing/decreasing the brigthness, redeye reduction, etc would be especially useful. A book or even a webiste would be great. Thanks for any suggestions.

Let's just say I have an old copy of Photohop 5.0. But I have absolutely no idea how it works, so I would be willing to try something easier, if it is available. :) Any suggestions for software to use? I know 5.0 is kind of old (relatively speaking)...

I think Photoshop is pretty much the standard. It's limited but you can tweak things and use add-ons to get it to work for you.

I learned Photoshop just by playing around with everything. Change one thing, see if you like how it looks. Remember how it works, that sort of thing.

Photoshop's like an onion; you can use it to real simple stuff and it'll work for you...you can also use it to do real complicated stuff and it'll work fine for that too.

As for a site, try google or something...I've found it's much better just to try random things till you can feel your way around pretty comfortably.

PS 5 is the way to go. I've done some editing myself. (as a matter of fact I am restoring a photo for someone presently) Go to any of the big search engines and type in something like: 'Photoshop 5 tutorial' or 'Photoshop photo editing'. There are TONS of good ones. That's how I learned to be proficient.

Umm, try adobe.com. There are books in every library. Get a Wacom Graphire tablet. It includes PS5 and Fractal Design Painter which is very cool.:D
