I think Dan Brown is sh!t, personally. Half his ideas come from just about everybody else.

all his books are the same. it's like he has a story generator and he just inputs places and names

I take it you don't watch any films or listen to music then?

That's fine with me, not like I've read what he's based his books off of.

Its to much like Deception Point. If you have already read that one I would stay away from Digital Fortress.

Never read it.

So, The Da Vinci Code is to Angels and Demons as Digital Fortress is to Deception Point?

Read both digital fortress and deception point, thought both were somewhat similar. I liked the body of digital fortress better but the ending sucked. Deception point had a funny/good ending, but the majority of the book wasn't as exciting IMO. Certainly not what I'd call sophisticated reading, but it helps pass the time on the toilet :p

There's a difference between copying a style or theme and outright stealing an idea.

I had no idea that grabbing a choose your own adventure book and copy/paste could be so profitable! I'm really starting to admire Dan Brown more and more. I have a friend at Random House who overheard him pitching his next book:

Publisher: So it's in the genre of Angels and Demons but has to do with Russia?
Dan: NO! It IS Angels and Demons, but in Russia!
Publisher: Sounds great! Will it be ready to print before DVC comes out on dvd?

While not as good as TDC and A&D, I thought Deception Point was better than Digital Fortress.

I gave up on Digital Fortress. I didn't like Deception Point that much either, but I really enjoyed Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons.

I've read both Deception Point and Digital Fortress and found both of them poorly written and had uncaptivating plots. Dan Brown tends to drag you on and on and on before revealing anything to you which just gets frustrating after a while. And with Deception Point the plot just gets so watered down and boring it was a chore to finish. Digital Fortress was slightly better in the first 3/4th's of the book, but the ending was a real let down.
If you like thriller/mystery books that will keep you captivated and leave you satisfied at the end, then try Vince Flynn's series starring Mitch Rapp (like Jack Bauer except he's allowed to kick more ass) or Daniel Silva's series starring Mossad assassin Gabriel Allon. Both series of books are way better than anything Dan Brown has written IMO.

No one kicks more ass than Jack Bauer. Chuck Norris once attempted to disprove this theory; he hasn't been seen since.

Fnished it last night. The idea was good, but the delivery lacked any real...depth. The very, very end was pretty interesting, but that's about it. Was a good read, but not terribly thought provoking.

The only books I liked by him were TDC and A&D. Digital Fortress and Deception Point stunk.

I'm not going to even buy digital fortress. I've read three of his books in this order:

Davinci code, angels and demons, and deception point.

Davinci code I totally loved but felt the ending was lacking. Angels and Demons was great until the end. Stupid ending. Deception point, excellent beginning but too many "no way that's possible" moments. The ending...atrocious.

It is difficult finding good authors that tell a great believable story that ties everything together and rounds out the characters.

Yeah, I have to agree there, the endings are generally a let-down.
