Digital coax: will any RCA cable work?

I just moved my tower so my 3ft digital coax cable doesn't reach my reciever. Can I use any RCA connector cable, or will I have to spring for a 9ft one?

Is it RCA or coax?

If it's coax, you can actually custom cut and crimp a cable of whatever length you need. It isn't expensive for the tools or connectors, either.

I should have been more specific; it's digital coax, which carries S/PDIF signal and has RCA plug ends. Identical in function to TOSlink (optical)

the signal is digital.....the cable is still coax...

and toslink is a fiber optical cable that ONLY can transmit digital...

Just as a follow up, I'm using a 6ft 'Monster' plain jane pair of RCA L/R cables with the right channel plugged in. I notice everytime the house has a power load, like the washer/dryer or AC turning on, the signal stops for about 1 second then comes back on, possibly due to the impedence deal as said before.

So I bought a cheap 9ft' cable off eBay. Also came across this very neat article on how 'luxury' cables are pretty much nothing but quackery: Link
