I have an msi mb and just made and hooked up a spdif rca in and out jack. I have a dvd player running the spdif digital line to the msi mb spdif in. In realtek software, I detect the digital audio and can even see the green sound level meter responding to the input. And if I go into the vista sound recorder thingy, I can see the level meter also responding and record that digital in, and play back the sound file it records. So I know all is working.

But, I can't see or get this digital spdif-in to pass thru to the speakers, so i can hear it. If you are recording with this, or even just a mic, how do you get the audio to pass to the speakers? Its like any recording source is not passed to the speakers. Using Realtek and vista.

I know with WindowsXP you must activate the spdif output by checking the Spdif box in your Sounds/Audio folder in the Control Panel. Sometimes you must also select the proper output/input sources in the Realtek control panel. With Vista I have no idea...
